One of the unique and compelling aspects of FunnelScope is the ability to get personalized hotel rankings based on input from your social network. Our features are still nascent but I thought I would show some examples of how FunnelScope’s personalization engine works.
We welcome any feedback on how we can improve this process. Please leave comments below or send an email to feedback at funnelscope dot com. We have plans to improve these features in our beta version, but your feedback would be very helpful.
The following is a screenshot from FunnelScope of search results for a hotel search in Boston where a user is not logged in:
Now let’s look at the search results for a user that is logged in.
Notice a couple things from this screenshot:
1) Notice how the hotel rankings have changed- now personalized for this user’s friends’ input. Whereas in the first scenario, Harborside Inn was ranked first, now Hotel Commonwealth is ranked first due to input from friends. The Total FunnelScope Rating has changed for each hotel to account for this user’s social graph ratings;
2) Notice the ratings of each hotel under “Your Social Network”. This is how this users’ friends rate this hotel.
Personalization also occurs when user selects an attribute (such as bathroom quality)– FunnelScope accounts for friends’ input in the users personalized hotel rankings.
For this to work well, users need to request input from friends (i.e., Socialize It). The more input users get from friends, the more valuable the social search results will be for users.
One of the interesting things FunnelScope is working on is to allow users to expand beyond their immediate network to see how hotels rank. This functionality along with supporting Facebook in our next release should further enhance your ability to get personalized hotel results on FunnelScope.
What are we missing? Please share your thoughts on how we can make this better for you.
